ECTRI, the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes is an international non-profit organisation that was founded in April 2003. Its members are 26 major transport research institutes or universities from 19 European countries. Together, they account for more than 4000 European scientific and research staff in the field of transport.

FEHRL, Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories is a registered International Association with a permanent Secretariat based in Brussels. It provides a coordinated structure for the interests of over thirty national research and technical centres from Europe, together with associated institutes from around the world. FEHRL is engaged in road engineering research topics including safety, materials, environmental issues, telematics and economic evaluation. Research capacity is provided by the national institutes and makes use of the wide range of test facilities available to them.
